STOP THE GUN GRAB IN NEW MEXICO!

Anti-gun lawmakers are at it again this year, blatantly attacking law-abiding gun owners by pushing measures that do nothing to stop the real issue of gun violence.  We have already seen a laundry list of extremist gun control proposals that would make Biden and Bloomberg proud. We know that we will see more!

We ask that you sign the petition below and help stop the gun grab in New Mexico. To further this cause, it is imperative that you contact your State Representatives and your State Senators, and urge them to OPPOSE HB 9, HB 50, HB 72, HB 100, HB 101, HB 224,HB 238, SB 44, SB 116 and SB 171, and any other new gun control laws. Your NRA-ILA will be fighting these measures at the Roundhouse in Santa Fe along with many other pro-Second Amendment supporters, but we also need YOU to fully engage in the critical effort to protect your Second Amendment rights in the Land of Enchantment.

I, a VOTER and resident of New Mexico, respectfully urge you to OPPOSE all anti-gun proposals being pushed by the lawmakers in our state.

I thank you for your consideration and will be keeping track of what your response and vote for these, and all anti-gun measures, will be.

Will you sign?

I believe that we shouldn’t enact laws such as those proposed in this year’s legislative calendar that are at their heart unconstitutional and without a clear benefit and little hope of success. The high cost, perturbation, and sanctions of this bill fall upon good citizens, not criminals. I urge you not to support this year’s anti-gun agenda and fully examine the problems of such proposals.
According to Every Town USA, there have been four mass shootings in New Mexico from 2009 to 2022 (https://everytownresearch.org/maps/mass-shootings-in-america/) two of which used an “assault weapon” and/or high capacity magazine in the murder. If Every Town’s statistics are correct, a mass shooting happens in New Mexico on average every 7 years and kills 4.6 people. Further, studies show reduced magazine capacity will do little to prevent homicides as most victims are shot with less than 10 rounds. While tragic, mass shootings are probably not our highest priority public safety issue and there is likely a host of problems (e.g., fentanyl availability, ever rising crime rate) where our time and resources would be better spent.

The proposed NM anti-gun legislation will introduce an unhealthy friction among political leaders, citizens, and law enforcement for little benefit. It is likely that passing such laws will generate both US and New Mexico constitutional challenges along with considerable legal costs as has been the case with Washington and California. It is also quite possible to have law enforcement nullify this act in different regions of the state similar to what is happening in Illinois with their assault weapon ban. A number of New Mexico sheriffs have taken a similar position with past gun control proposals. Challenges to such laws are likely to be a major distraction if passed. Wouldn’t it be wiser to stay out of the fray until challenges to firearm magazine limits work their way to the US Supreme Court?

Please take the side of New Mexican’ constitution and liberty and do not support this year’s anti- gun agenda.

Please do not vote on any gun laws that effect law abiding citizens. VOTE NO TO ALL GUN LEGISLATION. DRAW UP LEGISLATION THAT AFFECTS CRIMINALS, NOT LAW ABIDING CITIZENS.

Taking away any 2nd amendment rights only makes us more vulnerable.

    Mental illness causes gun crime.

And knife crime. And vehicular homicide.

Treat the person. Don’t ban the object.

These laws have been shown in the court to be illegal and will continue to be shown as illegal. This is not part of the solution, it is a part of the problem as it is a distraction from the underlying causes of tragic events and crime.

I believe this bill infringes on my 2nd amendment rights, when all of the government offices including the Armed forces, Police, FBI, ATF, CIA, TSA, Homeland security, US Marshalls office, Secret Service, private security firms, etc.. adhere to the same rules and regulation mentioned in these bills, I may consider changing my opinion, but very much doubt it considering the state of the union at this time

Wondering what part of “shall not be infringed” is unclear to our elected officials.

These laws would NEVER target the criminals. They will make us all less safe.
