I’m a high school senior who will be attending UT Knoxville for mechanical engineering this fall and anticipate graduating 2019. I was also the 4th place winner this year in your NRA Civil Rights Defense Fund Youth Essay Contest.
I attend Cleveland State Community College in Athens, TN as a dual enrollment student. My graduation date is May 2016

As a current student in college I have a highly anti gun professor who insist and talks about how gun control is great and dismisses evidence I have provided from the department of justice,FBI, and how national research council found the 1994-2004 assault weapon ban negligible to which her response was “so what if it were negligible?” That is one of many examples the others would covers this page such as " the NRA wants to arm everybody including the crazy people" And laughing when I corrected her when I said the NRA supports mental health reform. She also stated that ar pistols (the reason for the m855 debate) used used in crime to which I asked her that a 1 1/2 foot pistol that cost about $1000 is used in crime? To which she asserted “they are used in organized crime all the time” anyway it is important that we stay in this fight for the 2nd amendment and prove it is still relevent (again something my professor dissagrees) and I hope this event will help me with this.

There lots of reasons for keeping our second amendment alive, but for every generation that is born, the people with power and the ones who us that power changes as well… We should always protect it, which is our God giving right, because when we choose to give up what our past fathers fought so hard to gain, we shouldn’t squander it. The people are what keep the Democratic government from becoming Communist country…

The campus police said that if I have a concealed carry permit, to come see them to file the proper paperwork to be able to carry on campus. They are likely setting a student up as a security official, which is now possible from recent GA bills. I’ve mentioned this to concealcarrycampusGA. But I will not be 21 by time of graduation.
